Established in 1883, the Mooney Valley Racing Club has enjoyed a rich and vibrant history of thoroughbred horse racing at its unique amphitheater track and was the beginning Australian metropolitan track to conduct evening racing. Mooney Valley Racing Club is committed to maintaining tall standards of excellence in racing and customer service. Each race meeting offers premium racing, entertainment and enjoyment throughout the year and during the Spring Racing Carnival. Our aim is to engage and incite our members and visitors about day and evening racing at The Valley. Mooney Valley Racecourse has been a significant part of Victoria’s racing history for more than 100 years. The first race resulted in a lifeless heat between Eve line and Pyrette. Junior was a leading novice jumps jockey. Bill Cox remained secretary of Mooney Valley until his death in 1966. Since 199, the Cox Plate is the only race in the southern hemisphere to be included in the Emirates World Series, a prestigious series akin to the Grand pix, spanning both hemispheres and four continents. We have raised over 260,00 since it began back in 2005. We foster our employees to make regular donations to a charity that is accessible to their heart. Employee driven suggested sponsorship and donations We inquire staff on a quarterly basis to nominate charities or a cause they believe is in need of MVRC’s support. An estimated 5.4 million people get involved in volunteer labor in Australia each year, but many community groups feel that a shortage of volunteers is having a genuine impact on their ability to deliver imperative services. From marketing and financial specialists, to hospitality and horticulturists, our people have meaningful expertise and skills that can be volunteered. We would also like to look at a school program that brings children to The Valley, with initiatives such as Pony Club and the Speed to Safety finals were we can align with Racing Victoria to assist with their community objectives. This means the Club is saving energy by not relying on pumps and other devices that deliver mains system water. Importantly, the our staff have been an integral portion of the Club’s water saving strategies and have embraced the racecourse’s environmental sustainability goals.
